Reno-Tahoe
International Airport

Full migration from legacy access control to Genetec Synergis + Omnicast with Airport Badging Solution Plugins for seamless integration

Approved Apr 2024
Completed Oct 2024
1 week cutover
THE CHALLENGE

Legacy systems.
Fragmented workflows.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport was running on aging access control infrastructure with disconnected video, badging, and dispatch systems. Nearly 500 readers had to stay fully operational with alarms visible to dispatch at all times. The badging office managed fingerprinting and federal background checks through multiple disconnected portals, creating delays and operational friction. A single unified platform was needed — without disrupting 24/7 airport operations.
WHAT WE DELIVERED

One system.
Zero compromise.

Genetec Synergis + Omnicast
Complete replacement of legacy access control with Genetec Synergis, paired with Omnicast video management. Doors and cameras now appear together on interactive maps powered by ESRI integration.
Custom Airport Badging Plugins
Built connectors between the badging office portal, federal background check services, and the airport's clearinghouse. Fingerprinting, signatory coordination, and credential lifecycle now happen in a single interface.
Parallel-Run Backend Connector
Developed a lightweight back-end bridge so both old and new systems stayed synchronized during the physical migration — zero portal downtime exceeding five minutes across the entire project.
CYBERSECURITY & COMPLIANCE

Encryption at every layer.

As part of the modernization, Incline replaced legacy equipment throughout the facility to ensure full end-to-end encryption across all readers, controllers, and communication paths. This brought the entire access control and video platform into compliance with current cybersecurity requirements for critical infrastructure — something the previous system could not achieve.
EXECUTION

Planning was the real work.

📋
Cross-team coordination
Dispatch center, badging office, IT department, and Incline worked in lockstep from day one. Weekly planning sessions eliminated surprises during cutover.
⚡
1-week operational window
Physical conversion compressed into a single week. The parallel connector kept everything running while hardware was swapped.
🛡️
<5 min downtime per portal
No system went dark for more than five minutes. The connector maintained real-time sync between legacy and new platforms throughout, keeping alarms visible to dispatch across nearly 500 readers at all times.
THE RESULT

One pane of glass.

Badging, access control, video, and dispatch now operate inside a single Genetec environment. Security staff see doors and cameras overlaid on live ESRI maps. The badging office manages the entire credential lifecycle — fingerprinting, federal checks, signatory approvals — without switching portals.

The airport gained a modern, supportable platform with full audit trails and future-proof integrations. Incline delivered the project on schedule with minimal operational impact.
